Santa Teresa Gallura, Between History and Views
Overlooking the Strait of Bonifacio, Santa Teresa Gallura is a charming and lively coastal village.
The town centre develops around Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, with lively streets, small shops and cafés overlooking the sea, where the Mediterranean atmosphere blends with the authentic character of Gallura. On the promontory stands the historic Longonsardo Tower, built in the 16th century. From here the view stretches all the way to Corsica, offering spectacular panoramas.
It is located about 15 km from Villamarina and can be reached by car in around 20 minutes.
Tempio Pausania, The Soul of Inland Gallura
Situated on the slopes of Mount Limbara, Tempio Pausania is one of the most representative towns of Gallura.
A town of granite and springs, characterized by elegant stone buildings, intimate squares and cobbled streets. In the heart of the town stands the Cathedral of San Pietro, surrounded by historic buildings and small churches that preserve the most authentic identity of Gallura.
The cooler climate compared to the coast makes Tempio particularly pleasant during summer evenings.
A few kilometres away lies Aggius, a small village of remarkable charm, surrounded by imposing granite formations.
Here visitors can explore the Museum of Banditry and the Oliva Carta Cannas Ethnographic Museum, important testimonies of Gallura’s traditions and popular culture.

Castelsardo, A Medieval Village by the Sea
Perched on a promontory overlooking the Gulf of Asinara, Castelsardo is a fascinating medieval village.
Stone alleys, ancient walls and sea views lead to the majestic Doria Castle, which houses the Mediterranean Weaving Museum, dedicated to the traditional craft of weaving plant fibres.
Walking through Castelsardo means discovering artisan workshops, small boutiques and breathtaking sea views, in a village where history, tradition and landscape blend into an authentic atmosphere.
Castelsardo is about 54 km from Villamarina and can be reached by car in approximately one hour.
Nuragic Sites
Lu Brandali Nuragic Complex
A few kilometres from Santa Teresa Gallura, surrounded by countryside, the Nuragic complex of Lu Brandali is one of the most important testimonies of the Nuragic civilization in northern Sardinia.
The site, dating back to the Bronze Age, includes a nuraghe, a village and a Giants’ Tomb. Visiting Lu Brandali means connecting with the most ancient soul of Sardinia.
The site is about 18 km from Villamarina and can be reached by car in around 20 minutes.
Nuraghe Majori
A few kilometres from Tempio Pausania, among cork oak forests and granite outcrops, stands Nuraghe Majori, an impressive and iconic Nuragic monument.
Dating back to the Bronze Age, the structure stands out for its remarkable state of preservation and for its distinctive construction technique, built with large granite blocks carefully placed one upon another.
It is located about 32 km from Villamarina and can be reached by car in around 35 minutes.
